Smoke
03:03
|

i hear echos of songs we used to sing
like, "you are the beginning and ending of everything"
and "it's not too late to change everything in your life"
in your life? in your life. after all it is your life
so, when you still smoke you roll your own tobacco
my friends that still smoke roll their own tobacco
my friends, trust your guts and face your fears
you say you do both, so why are you still standing here
killing yourself... it's killing me
what can i say when this how you want to be?
unconditional love is not the same when you are being judged
so i'll take you as you come
i would not trade you for anyone
because when you still smoke you roll your own tobacco
my friends that still smoke roll their own tobacco
is this what it takes to write a letter?
is this what it takes to unplug?
is this what it takes to put pen to paper?
is this what it takes to keep in touch...
with my friends that still smoke who roll their own tobacco?
my friends...

4 to the 4th Power Chord

i'll never get sick of these chords
they refuse to grow old, don't need any improvement
i could play them all night long
sit on my back porch all alone
the only sounds are the cars and boston bound trains
i never learned properly how to play or how to sing
there's a strange pride in learning on your own
i never learned correctly how to play a goddamned b
mostly settle on the power chord
if there was one thing punk taught me
it was to think independently
my best classes met in record sleeves
if there was one thing punk taught me
it was ups and downs in the community
apply these lessons to our daily lives
do you remember a time when the only thing that mattered in your entire world was making it to the stage?
screaming along with strangers to words that seem to capture everything you believed?
i'll never get sick of these chords
they refuse to grow old, don't need any improvement
i could play them all night long
sit on my back porch all alone
the only sounds are the cars and boston bound trains

Harvest

this is our american moment, but don't take it from me
look around at these american faces and tell me what you see
i see campfire songs, sing alongs - man, it's been a while
and the carnival at this festival has got us all going wild
how'd we get in to this? how do we get out of this?
play me american music, but nothing from the top of the charts
i just want to hear an american voice singing from its heart
we're devils to some, angels to none - what's it gonna take to change us?
we'll sew our seeds, fall to our knees, pray for the sun to save us.
how'd we get in to this? how do we get out of this?
the fields are full with american people, but none of them were born here
without my consent, my american government is telling they have something to fear
well, i don't understand how they can demand a people not to survive
after they stole every inch of land and left everyone to die
that's how we got in to this.
how do we get out of this?
we'll have a harvest
a harvest of hope

Miss You Guys

|

this is to all my friends i lost contact with through the years
i remember being 19 and 22, running around with danny and the rest of the crew
how'd we grow apart after living together for three years?
i can think back to so many countless shows, shl, our personal radio
moved away, jobs change and rent seems to somehow take front seat
this is to all my friends i lost contact with through the years
i remember crazy parties on salem street, fire booze, general debauchery
some have grown apart after talking every single day
runnin around town, kicked out of countless bars
so many pot lucks resulted in horrendous farts
land of low rent and cheap beer (richmond) stole so many friends
our time is coming back around
we'll pick right up where we left off
